The meaning of the word Osteopathy seems to be highly misunderstood, even among Osteopaths. It is too often explained as the combination of the words OS, bone and PATHOS, as in pathology: “bone sickness” or “bone disease”. This interpretation is far away from the actual meaning of the word osteopathy.
The word Osteopathy comes from two Greek words: OSTEON which means “structure of living matter”, and PATHOS. The root meaning of “pathos” is similar to its use in the word “sympathy” or “empathy”.
This meaning of empathy for living matter embodies the approach of your education at Osteon education. Experience being taught by this approach and its effect on your learning outcomes.
Osteon is the direct continuation of the first osteopathy education in Belgium and the region, RSK. From this first education, other schools in Belgium originated, for example IAO, BELSO and Fico osteopathy academy. RSK was founded in 1987 by Gilbert Devos and Erik Van Goeye. The heritage of RSK is the direct bloodline of Osteon. You will meet icons of the osteopathic bloodline during your Osteon education and feel the connection.
Osteon was founded in 2023 on request of the students and teachers that expressed the need for an innovative education, without losing the tradition and quality: from urgency to essence.
Osteon is a new approach on qualitive education, based on tradition and years of experience in education. It is not a new school but an innovation of the experience and tradition of RSK.

The location is Raeren Belgium, where osteopathy is taught in nature. Raeren is in the east of Belgium, near the German border. It is 10 km from Aachen, 140 km east of Brussels, 1h30 drive.

The location has all the facilities for your optimal education and has all options open for both extra practice weekends you want to organize with your class or friends as for connection moments (eg. BBQ, fire pit, gala ball …).
