Postgraduate training in pediatric osteopathy

9 weekends in Warsaw, starting from September 2025
Specialization for osteopaths, pediatric insights & applications

This comprehensive course is offered in collaboration with OSD International and will be delivered in Warsaw during the 2025–26 academic year.

In addition to this postgraduate course, masterclasses in pediatric dissection and pediatric fieldwork will also be offered. Further information will be provided once the dates have been confirmed.

The aim of the training is to specialize the osteopath in the field of pediatric osteopathy. The focus is on imparting practical skills. Of course, all the theoretical knowledge necessary for competent practice in pediatric osteopathy is also taught. The application and practice of theoretical and practical content in clinical treatment under supervision is an important part of the training and takes place in clinical practice training.

We attach great importance to holistic didactic of teaching, the atmosphere of learning and interaction with each other. The relationship between all of this is the basis for a deep and fulfilling understanding as well as personal growth.

Studies and projects on pediatric osteopathy

We have published two books on pediatric osteopathy. In 2019, a new book titled Differential Diagnoses in Paediatric Osteopathy was released by Thieme Verlag. For the past seven years, we have also been working on an extensive project that examines the entire body of literature on pediatric osteopathy from the early days of the field. Based on this research, we have not only conducted five scientific studies but have also developed new treatment strategies for children. Three articles have already been published, and a clinical study is currently in preparation.

In addition, we have organized and hosted two major international congresses on pediatric osteopathy, each attracting around 1,000 participants and featuring more than 40 leading speakers from around the world.

Through this ongoing commitment, pediatric osteopathy education at the OSD continues to advance—deepening existing knowledge, incorporating new approaches, and integrating the latest developments into both classroom teaching and hands-on clinical training at our teaching clinic.

Classical paediatric medicine and osteopathic aspects

The lessons offer a synthesis of classical pediatric medicine and the specific osteopathic approaches to the treatment of children. In addition, the training fosters the development of social and psychological skills, as well as the osteopath’s competence for responsible interdisciplinary collaboration with all professional groups involved in pediatric care.

Health promotion and typical symptoms in children

The training focuses on teaching approaches that promote the health and homeostasis of the child. A salutogenetic perspective forms the foundation of the curriculum. Naturally, these principles, models, and approaches are applied in clinical contexts, addressing a wide range of pediatric symptoms such as abdominal disorders; difficulties with sucking, swallowing, and biting; sleep disturbances; conditions affecting the ear, nose, and throat; spinal asymmetries such as torticollis; excessive crying; learning disorders; and more.

Treatment goes beyond symptom-oriented, localized interventions and consistently aims to engage the entire organism and its surrounding environment. Participants also gain the knowledge necessary for interdisciplinary collaboration, including a clear understanding of both the indications for and the limitations of osteopathic treatment.

Quality assurance

We are committed to ensuring high standards of care for children in Germany and across Europe through a strong focus on quality assurance. Torsten Liem is a founding member of both the German Society for Paediatric Osteopathy (DGKO) and the European Society for Paediatric Osteopathy (EGKO), and continues to serve on their boards. Both DGKO and EGKO provide training programs with a minimum of 400 hours, focusing on essential competencies for osteopaths throughout Europe.

We look forward to supporting you throughout your osteopathic training and guiding you on your journey to becoming a pediatric osteopath.
