Osteon is excited to announce the opening of registration for OsEAN’s 9th “Open Forum for Osteopathic Education” Conference – “Osteopathic Models - between tradition and evidence-based practice,” scheduled to take place on November 7th and 8th, 2024, in Saronno, Italy.
Historically, the Open Forum was exclusively for teachers. However, I proposed to expand its accessibility to students. Therefore, you are warmly invited to join the teachers in discussions on various topics. You may have the opportunity to meet many authors whose books you have in your study library.
To register: Teachers can take advantage of the early bird offer at 380 euros, with the rate increasing to 450 euros per person from October 16th. However, as an Osteon WOMA student, you are only required to cover the catering costs, totaling 145 euros!
You may notice that there is currently an online student price of 160 euros. However, with a promotional code, your fee will reduce to 145 euros upon completion of the registration process. Feel free to ask me for the code when you subscribe.
OsEAN has a rich history of hosting Open Fora, showcasing a diverse range of topics. Osteon takes great pride in its longstanding participation and contributions to this event since its inception.
The 2024 conference holds great promise, and once again, Osteon is honored to be part of it, including delivering lectures. Be sure to explore the program for more details.
This year's Open Forum focuses on teaching osteopathic models. Here's a glimpse of what to expect:
Osteopathy and osteopathic education are at a pivotal juncture. While some institutions primarily adhere to traditional osteopathic models and theories, others strive to integrate the wealth of research findings published since the turn of the century. This presents a significant challenge, as there currently lacks an overarching framework for osteopathy. We cordially invite you to participate in OsEAN's Open Forum 2024, where we will engage in discussions aimed at refining and establishing theoretical models to guide osteopathic education and practice. Your presence will be invaluable as we collectively navigate these crucial conversations together.
When booking your flight to attend the Open Forum in Saronno, it's recommended to choose Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) over Milan Linate Airport. Milan Malpensa is preferable as Linate is located on the east side of the city.
From thsi airport the train takes us to Saronno in 30-minutes trip, the walk to the hotel takes only 5 minutes and from the hotel to AIMO is a 25 minute walk.
Regarding your itinerary, the Osteon & WOMA agenda has been strategically organized. During the weekend of the Open Forum, there are no classes scheduled. Iwill depart on Tuesday, 5/11, with an OsEAN board meeting in the evening. If my flight is in the morning, I will teach half a day at AIMO and you are invited. On Wednesday, there is a full day of OsEAN meetings, followed by an OsEAN self-paid dinner in the evening. If you're interested in joining the dinner, I can check for availability.
AIMO, the school in Saronno, has agreed to open their student clinic that weekend. You are invited to participate in apprenticeships, and if there's a positive response, arrangements can be made with AIMO for you to attend free classes conducted by volunteering teachers. Depending on my return flight, you may also follow my teachings at AIMO after the Open Forum.
Please note that there is a limited number of spots available for students to participate, as they occupy seats that would otherwise be filled by regular fee-paying participants. Therefore, it's advisable not to delay in making your decision.
This event offers a fantastic combination of opportunities: attending the Open Forum, participating in clinics, meeting teachers, exploring Saronno, and more.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. And if you know of potential students starting in 2024-25, please share this invitation with them to ensure they don't miss out on this opportunity, especially as they will only begin in October 2024.
